Productive Plastics, Inc. is a medium volume plastic components manufacturer located in Mt. Laurel, NJ. We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to be responsible for producing quality product within a defined process. Requirements include strong core value in work ethic and discipline in a fast paced production environment. Basic Purpose: Review Customer designs and determine molding/forming requirements. Work with customer to resolve tolerance issues. Propose options to reduce cost. Generate tooling layouts and support documentation for vendor quotations. Provide engineering support to Sales as required. Functional Responsibilities: • Estimating process (Materials, Tooling, Custom items, and processing) • Manage and facilitate communication between the Customer, Salesperson, Key Vendors, and Operations through Customer Quote process (FMEA, PPAP, FAI, etc.) • Manage ECN Process and customer issues not related to returns • Customer Design and Quality Specifications • Investigate, evaluate, and develop new technologies for process, tooling, and machinery • Conduct design review meetings Critical Duties and Responsibilities: • Design/Purchase/Create tooling and fixtures for fabrication of parts • Provide engineering team support as needed • Manage Bill of Materials and entry into database • Approve work instructions for manufacturing improvements • Ensure Customer Quality and scrap yields are controlled by process and critical process checks are identified • ECN cost estimating including inventory considerations (internal and vendor) • Provide input for quality process control dimensions for critical specifications and checks • Interface with Design engineering when projects require Performance Guidelines: • On Time Delivery of Projects to customer date and/or lead-time Quoted • Corrective action and management of issues with new projects • On budget to quoted amount Requirements and Qualifications: • SolidWorks expertise required • Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point knowledge and Project • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing or equivalent experience • Min. 5 years Engineering in a high volume manufacturing environment specific to hands on experience • Knowledge of Safety training and compliance to laws and standards • Good communication skills • Understanding of GD & T • Must be a team player • Certifications that would be valuable: Professional Engineer’s license, Certified Professional Engineer (PE), Six Sigma/Lean Training Certified, and Project Management Professional (PMP) Organizational Relationship: • Reports to Engineering Manager
